Mio Hazama (間 みお Hazama Mio) is the former wife of Kagemitsu Hazama and the deceased biological mother of Black Jack.

Appearance

Black Jack considered Mio as "the most beautiful women in the world" with shoulder length brown hair, gray eyes, long eyelashes, thin eyebrows and red lips. She wore a green long sleeve shirt and a green knee length skirt. She also wore a gray necklace with a blue background color and a gray or white swan on it.

In Black Jack 2004, Mio had longer hair that possibly reached her waist or back.

Personality

Mio was a very kind, caring and loving mother as she was able to donate some of her skin to Black Jack.

History

Mio and Black Jack are at the beach when her son went to investigate a mysterious, shiny looking object, half buried in the sand which reveals to be a bomb implanted by an evil gang. She and her son were badly injured due to the explosion and they were rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she loses all of her limbs and slipped in a coma.

Before she dies, she asks Black Jack to forgive Kagemitsu Hazama (Black Jack's father) as she knows the reason why her husband left them.

• The name Mio means "beautiful" (美) (mi) combined with "cherry blossom" (桜) or "thread" (緒) (o).
• Mio had different hairstyles each series:
  • In Black Jack 2004, Mio had longer hair that reached her waist or back.
  • In Black Jack 21, Mio has shoulder-length hair.
